Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon celebrating the heart and soul of family business in Atlantic Canada!
Join us at this year’s Awards of Excellence Luncheon, where we’ll shine a well-deserved spotlight on two of our FBA members' family enterprises and dive deep into the stories behind their success. This exclusive gathering isn’t just about awards, it’s about real conversations, bold insights, and inspiring journeys that define what it means to build a legacy.
The highlight of the luncheon will be a dynamic fireside chat, moderated by FBA's Vice President, Leslie Bishop, featuring this year’s honourees — Don Sheehan and family of Amos Pewter and Chuck Cartmill and family of LED Roadway Lighting— along with their successors. Together, they’ll share candid stories about navigating succession, adapting to change, and building a legacy that stands the test of time.
Every family business has a unique story — but they all share one powerful connection: the strength of family at their core.
Reserve your seat today and be part of this inspiring celebration of family business excellence!
MEET OUR PARTICIPANTS:
Amos Pewter, based in Mahone Bay, NS, was established in 1974 by Greg and Suzanne Amos where the couple converted an old boat-building shop into a workshop in the South Shore. In 2006, the couple decided to sell to Don and Lynn Sheehan, who took their entrepreneurial spirit and expanded Amos Pewter with five more flagship stores across the Maritimes.
Amos Pewter takes great pride in crafting hand-made pewter jewelry, home décor, tableware, and ornaments inspired by nature. Every piece is thoughtfully designed and produced in Mahone Bay, where the company operates an open studio and museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the artistry behind their work. With two skilled artisans continuously showcasing their craftsmanship and a commitment to in-house mold-making, Amos Pewter ensures that each creation reflects both quality and tradition.
Don and Lynn Sheehan are proud to see the next generation actively involved in the family business, with their three sons—Jacob, Connor, and Max—each taking on key roles over the past five years. Connor initially stepped in as a business manager and has since gained hands-on experience across various aspects of the company’s operations, reflecting a well-rounded approach to leadership succession. Jacob oversees retail store locations, wholesale operations, and strategic partnerships, while Max leads the marketing efforts, including photography, graphic design, and catalog development.
